  • 1 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for topping)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt (for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese (for topping)
  • Marinara sauce (to serve)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, dissolve yeast and sugar in warm water; let sit until foamy.
  2. Add salt, oil, and two cups of flour; mix until combined. Gradually add remaining flour until dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough until smooth; place in a greased bowl and cover for one hour to rise.
  4. Punch down the dough, divide into 16 pieces, roll into ropes, cut slits on each side, and shape into bones.
  5. Place shaped breadsticks on a baking sheet; cover and let rise again for another 45 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 425°F and bake for 12-14 minutes until golden brown.
