  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 tomatoes, pureed
  • 1/2 cup plain yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garam masala
  • 1/2 teaspoon red chili powder (adjust to taste)
  • 1 cup beef broth or water

Instructions

  1. Prepare all ingredients by chopping onion, garlic, and ginger finely.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large pot over medium heat; sauté onions until golden brown (5-7 minutes).
  3. Add garlic and ginger; cook for an additional 2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Stir in spices (turmeric, cumin, coriander, paprika, garam masala, red chili) and cook for 2 minutes.
  5. Pour in pureed tomatoes and cook for another 5 minutes.
  6. Add beef cubes and brown on all sides.
  7. Pour in beef broth or water and yogurt; bring to a boil then reduce heat to low.
  8. Cover and let simmer for at least 1 hour until beef is tender; adjust seasoning before serving.
